The officers and employees of Noakhali University of Science and Technology (NUST) observed programmes demanding implementation of eight-point demand including removal of Registrar (Additional Duties) on Tuesday.

The officers and employees presented 8 points of demand during the strike.

From 10:00 am to 12:00 pm on Thursday, they held this programe at NUST central Shaheed Minar.

Earlier, a memorandum signed by 8-point Sambhalit Officers Association President Sakhawat Hossain and General Secretary Mejbah Uddin Palash was given to the Vice-Chancellor at Noakhali Science and Technology University on Monday.

Speakers at the programme said their main demand is to relieve the current registrar (additional charge) from the post within 72 hours.

The second demand is to appoint a registrar who has the qualification and experience of the liberation war in a permanent position as soon as possible. Our program will continue until the claim is accepted. However, emergency services, class test assistants and library reading room staff will be exempt from our program.

Apart from this, their other demands are to approve the association of officers and employees. Confirmation of job regularization of master roll and contractually appointed officers and upgradation of newly regularized employees within next seven days.

Revising the recruitment and promotion policies of the officers and revising the policies for technical - non-technical positions with three upgradations within the next one month.

Within the next seven days, regularization of the posts of officers and employees in the Employee Recruitment Board and reconstitution of committees with officers in various committees related to officers and employees, including the past service calculation committee.

To implement the office orders of Assistant Registrar/equivalent from 7th grade to 6th grade and Deputy Registrar from 5th grade to 4th grade equivalent. The discriminatory behavior and double policy of the administration must be stopped immediately.

Noakhali University of Science and Technology Officers Association President Sakhawat Hossain and General Secretary Mejbah Uddin Palash said that it has been announced to continue this movement until the 8-point demand is met.

If our demands are not accepted, more large-scale programs will be carried out. In response to another question, they said, "We have a meeting with the vice-chancellor in the afternoon." The next course of action will be decided at the end of the meeting.

When asked about this, the acting registrar of Noakhali Science and Technology University, Jasim Uddin said, "You talk to the authorities in the university about this." There is the answer. However, he also commented that there is no complaint against him in the memorandum.

Noakhali University of Science and Technology Vice-Chancellor Professor Didarul Alam was called several times but he did not receive the call.
