The White Panel, an organisation of BNP-aligned teachers at Dhaka University (DU), held its general meeting on Monday at the Faculty of Arts' Teachers’ Lounge.

The meeting was presided over by Professor Dr. Mohammad Siddiqur Rahman Khan. During the session, the central convener and two joint conveners for the years 2025 and 2026 were elected.

Professor Dr. Morshed Hasan Khan was unanimously chosen as the convener, supported by the majority of the units in the White Panel’s central committee meeting.

Additionally, Professor Dr. Abdus Salam (South) and Professor Dr. Md. Abul Kalam Sarkar (North) were elected as joint conveners. These names were presented at the general meeting of the White Panel and subsequently approved.

According to a statement from the White Panel, the central committee had previously requested the 12 unit committees of the university to propose one convener and two joint conveners per unit, as per the constitution of the White Panel.

By the deadline of 5 December, the unit committees held their respective general meetings and proposed names for one convener and two joint conveners.

The proposals from the units were reviewed at the White Panel's central committee meeting held on December 22.

The review revealed that Professor Dr. Morshed Hasan Khan from the Marketing Department was proposed as the convener by 8 of the 12 units, while Professor Dr. Aminul Islam Talukdar from the Physics Department was proposed by 4 units.

For the position of Joint Convener (South), Professor Dr. Abdus Salam from the Chemistry Department received proposals from 7 units, while Professor Dr. Mohammad Al Mujaddedi Al-Fasani from the Botany Department was proposed by 4 units, and Professor Dr. A. F. M. Mustafizur Rahman from the Applied Chemistry and Chemical Engineering Department was proposed by 1 unit.

For the position of Joint Convener (North), Professor Dr. Md. Abul Kalam Sarkar from the Persian Language and Literature Department received proposals from 7 units, Professor Dr. Muhammad Mezbahul Islam from the Information Science and Library Management Department received support from 4 units, and Professor Dr. Muha. Ruhul Amin from the International Relations Department was proposed by 1 unit.
