A two-day long 24th National Conference and Green Expo on ‘Investing in Resilience: How Renewale Energy Can Strengthen Climate Adaptation and Mitigation’ concluded on Thursday at Nabab Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Bhaban Auditorium of Dhaka University (DU).

Dean of DU Earth and Environmental Sciences Faculty Prof Dr. Md. Zillur Rahman presided over the concluding function while Parliamentary Standing Committee Member Major Gen. (Retd.) Salah Uddin Miaji, MP addressed it as chief guest. The Institute of Energy of DU in cooperation with Greentech Foundation organized this event.

The concluding function was addressed by Country Director of Asian Development Bank Edimon Ginting, Grameen Bank Chairman Prof. Dr. A. K. M. Saiful Majid, Program Manager of Emvironment & Energy Dept. of European Union Delegation to Bangladesh Tanzina Dilshad and Coordinator of Waterkeepers Bangladesh Sharif Jamil as special guests. Program Specialist of UNDP Bangladesh Arif M. Faisal and Chairman of Bright Green Energy Foundation Dipal C Barua presented key-note speeches at the function.

Earlier, in the morning a session on `Understanding Available Climate Finance & Funding Instruments for Industrial and Renewable Energy Sector of Bangladesh’ was held at the same auditorium. DU Pro-Vice Chancellor (Academic) Prof. Dr. Sitesh Chandra Bachar presided over the session. It was addressed by German Ambassador Achim Troster, Swedish Ambassador Alex Berg Von Linde, Ambassador & Head of European Union Charles Whiteley, former Governor of Bangladesh Bank Prof. Dr. Atiur Rahman, Deputy Governor Dr. Habibur Rahman and CEO of the Change Initiative Zakir Hossain as special guests.

DU Pro-Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Sitesh Chandra Bachar urged the policy makers and the stakeholders to further promote Green and Renewable Energy in Bangladesh. He said, we need more skilled persons in this sector. He emphasized on strengthening public-private partnership and need based education to achieve more success in this field.
