A young Muslim student (22) was allegedly gang-raped by three Christian youths in Savar on Friday noon.
Musalli and local residents held a protest march and rally.
Earlier, the girl was raped in Kamalapur Goalpara area of Birulia Union on Tuesday afternoon. The victim filed a case at Savar Model Police Station in this incident.
Speakers from the protest said that the three youths involved in the rape should be arrested immediately. Since the incident, the victim's family is not getting any assistance from the administration. We Muslims and local residents are united and demand exemplary punishment of the spectators. If they are not arrested within the next 24 hours, they also warned to hold a siege program at Savar Model Police Station.
The victim is a 2nd year student of International Relations (IR) Department of Bangladesh University of Professionals (BUP).
On the other hand, the accused are Santosh Rosario's son Sohail Rosario (37), Banard Rosario Megha's son Biplab Rosario alias Tilak Rosario (40) and deceased Devendra Biswas' son Mithu Biswas (35) who blocked the way of the victim. At one point, he grabbed her face and took her to a secluded place and raped her.
According to the victim and the police sources, on the afternoon of the incident, when the victim was returning home after private lessons, drug addicts Sohel Rosario, Biplab Rosario and Mithu Biswas stopped her. Later, three people took her to a forest in Goalpara area and raped her in turn, threatening to kill her. After the incident, the victim tried to keep the matter a secret, thinking of the loss of honor of himself and his family. Later, with the help of some locals, the victim filed a case at Savar Model Police Station.
Savar Model Police Station OC Jewel Mia said the police are trying to arrest those involved in the rape incident. All of them will be brought under strict laws.
It is mentioned that the house of the victim girl and the accused is in Kamalapur Gwalio Para of Birulia Union. The accused are known drug dealers and scoundrels in the area. Even though the accused are absconding since the incident, it has been alleged that they have been threatening the victim's family.
