Motorcyclist dies in Tongi road accident

A motorcyclist named Kanon Hossain (29) died in a three-way collision between a passenger bus, a covered van and a motorcycle in Shalikchura area of Tongi, Gazipur.
The incident took place in Shalikchura area near Gazipura bus stand on Dhaka Mymensingh highway on Sunday afternoon. Tongi West Police Station arrested the bus driver and the covered van driver in this incident.
The deceased Kanan Hossain is the son of Ali Hossain of Kachari Para village of Bheramara police station in Kushtia district. He was working in the marketing department of a Chinese company in Uttara of the capital.
According to the police, a Kishoreganj-bound Jalsidi Paribahan bus hit the motorcycle crossing the road while overtaking the moving covered van. At that time, the motorcycle lost control and was crushed under the covered van, the motorcycle rider died on the spot.
Meanwhile, the driver of the killer bus and covered van was arrested from the spot. Officer-in-charge of Tongi West Police Station Shah Alam said that the body was recovered and sent to Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmad Medical College Hospital for post-mortem. Two drivers have been detained for questioning. Legal action is pending.
