Hilsa is the king of fish, mother hilsa caught will be punished on the occasion of mother hilsa conservation campaign - 2024, a meeting of upazila task force committee was held at Goalando of Rajbari.

The meeting was held on Wednesday at around 3:30 pm in the upazila meeting room organized by the upazila administration and senior fisheries department.

Upazila executive officer Joti Bikas Chandra presided over the meeting Rajbari District Fisheries Officer (Acting) Mostafa Al Rajeev was present on the occasion.

Speakers have announced a 22-day ban on all types of fishing in the Padma river for the preservation of mother hilsa. There is a provision of jail and fine against those who violate this law. They also said that during this time, hilsa transportation, buying and selling, storage and exchange will also be prohibited. At this time, government VGF food assistance is being given to the registered fishermen who abstain from hilsa harvesting. However, mother hilsa conservation campaign will continue during the ban.

It is to be noted that the fisheries department has announced a ban on all types of fishing including hilsa in Padma for 22 days from midnight of October 13 to November 3 for the preservation of Jatka and mother hilsa.
