Moon sighted, Eid-ul-Azha on 17 June

Eid-ul-Azha, the second largest religious festival of the Muslim community, will be celebrated on 17 June in the country as the moon of the Arabic month of Zilhaj was sighted in the skies of Bangladesh on Friday evening.

The celebration and animal slaughtering ritual will continue till 19 June.

The information was shared with reporters following the meeting of the National Moon Sighting Committee at the office of Islamic Foundation in the capital on Friday.

Minister of Religion affairs Md Faridul Haque Khan chaired the meeting.

On Thursday, the moon was seen in some countries of the Middle East including Saudi Arabia, and accordingly, the holy festival will be celebrated in Saudi on 16 June.
