Missing tea worker's body recovered in Juri

The body of tea worker Ran Rikmon, 40, who went missing after drowning in flood waters in Juri upazila of Moulvibazar, has been found two days later. Rickman's body was found floating in floating water in the new hill area of the couple's Dhamai tea garden around 9am on Friday, June 24.

Rickman's house is also in the new hill area. According to local sources, various areas of Dhamai Bagan have been inundated due to heavy rains and downpour over the last one week. Although Rickman's home is on a hillside, the waist-deep water on the dirt road leading to the house.

Rickman left a local store around 9pm on Wednesday, June 22nd He was returning home after buying daily necessities. He did not get the boat and left on foot.

At one point, he drowned on the way. Later, the people of the area went to the spot and searched for him but could not find him. The incident was then reported to Juri Police Station and Kulaura Fire Service. A team of Kulaura Fire Service first went to the spot on Thursday afternoon and failed to carry out rescue operation.

Later a team of divers came from Sylhet and launched an operation. They also did not find any Rickman. Dhamai Tea-Garden Workers Panchayat Committee president Yadav Rudra Pal said Ran Rikman's body was found near the spot around 9am on Friday. Police later recovered the body with the help of locals. In the family Rickman has a wife and three sons.

He was the only earner. Officer-in-charge (OC) of Juri Police Station Sanjay Chakraborty said further necessary steps are being taken in this regard.
