Tomorrow is the holiday of Miladunnabi (SM) on the holy Eid. The next two days, Friday-Saturday, are weekly public holidays. 90 percent of Sylhet’s hotels, motels and resorts are already booked for these three days. Along with people from different professions, public and private officials and employees of different districts are rushing to Sylhet to enjoy themselves and their families.

Tourism officials said that millions of tourists will gather in Sylhet for the next three days on the occasion of the holiday. For the past 15 days, people from different parts of the country have been booking hotels-motels and resorts in Sylhet through various means. Almost 90 percent of Sylhet’s hotel-motel rooms have been booked by tourists.

Hotel Golden City Managing Director Mitu Das said that the weather is tourist friendly, as well as the holiday. We are optimistic that a large number of tourists will come to Sylhet. There is a slowdown in various sectors, the tourism sector is no exception. Hopefully the slump will ease up a bit this holiday.

Humayun Kabir Liton, President of Sylhet Tourism Club, said that in the last two weeks, almost 90 percent of Sylhet’s hotel-motel and resort rooms have been booked. Lakhs of tourists are likely to gather in Sylhet during the three days of the holiday. This is very positive for the tourism sector of Sylhet.

This three-day tourist gathering will be somewhat helpful in reducing the loss of 3 years during the corona period. He also said that the reason for the large number of tourists in Sylhet at this time is that the election ground will be hot for the next 3 months of November, December and January. Due to various fears, tourists will not want to go out much. So now they are running to the tourist spots after getting the opportunity. And the main attraction of the tourists is the region of hills-Jharna-Haor.

SP of Sylhet Region of Tourist Police Belal Hossain said,Sylhet is crowded with tourists during weekends and various holidays. Tourist police are especially alert and ready in Sylhet for the safety of tourists on these days. The next three days will not be an exception. We will strive to provide maximum security to the tourists by carrying out round-the-clock duties even with a small number of manpower.
