Life and Death
Md. Nurul Haque
Life is a rented house you must have to change one day
You must leave abruptly without any notice with due pay.
All that costly dress you wore will turn into shroud
Lying on the final coffin like a log, of nothing to be proud.
Kith and kins that used to hug you and be around
Will hurry up digging the grave to lay you on the bare ground.
Your proud long title and coddled name will say goodbye
You are just a dead body which is unresponsive to harrowing cry.
Every day you went out walking and came in walking
Today you came in walking but ever go out lying.
Money, pelf and power that you chased will run opposite
Only a shroud left to cover thyself to avoid a shameful exit.
Your children and wife are the scales to measure the distance
of thy grave that proves how deeply or lightly they took thy absence.
Death equals everything black and white, and high and low
To justify the lord's justice, death is a must of God's claw.
Everything that walks on the dust are bound to be dust
So enrich thy soul that you are before the dust makes it rust.
