LGED playing vital role in rural economic development in country

Local Government Engineering Department (LGED) has been playing vital role in rural economic development.

Engineers of LGED have been relentlessly engaged in development activities by constructing various infrastructures including bridges, culverts, roads across the country.

Since the joining of the present Chief Engineer Md. Ali Akhtar Hossain, the work dynamism has been increased.

Under the revenue budget, LGED receives an average of Tk 3000 crore every year. LGED Chief Engineer Md. Ali Akhtar Hossain said, this money is used for the maintenance of rural roads and bridges.

LGED gets about 15 thousand crores of taka every year for implementation of ADP. This money is used to build roads, socio-economic and various infrastructures in rural and urban areas.

Besides, small scale water resource infrastructure is built to increase food production in the country.

Apart from its own work, LGED has been constructing infrastructure worth around Tk 5000 crore under various projects of other ministries and departments.

Under the visionary leadership of the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Bangladesh has emerged as a middle-income country today.

LGED is the partner of the incredible success that the country has shown in socio-economic development.

In this journey of prosperity, LGED's involvement in rural and urban infrastructure development is extensive. LGED as an engineering institute of the Government is involved in the implementation of Vision 2041 announced by the Prime Minister.

Building infrastructure while maintaining quality is a prerequisite for sustainable development. Engineers and construction personnel of LGED are trained every year to maintain the quality of work. Currently construction workers are also brought under training.

LGED has its own quality control laboratories in all the districts of the country to carry out necessary tests to maintain the quality of work. The quality of construction materials stocked at the site is tested at LGED's laboratory before being used for construction work. And those construction materials which are not tested in the laboratory are tested from various technical universities.

Recently, a book containing 51 points of direction has been published by the Minister of Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperative Md. Tajul Islam MP . The publication is timely-contemporary and factual. The direction of the book is followed by all engineers of LGED.

Mobility has come in handy since the current chief engineer Md Ali Akhtar Hossain took charge as chief engineer in LGED. Every project is progressing well. LGED's engineers confirmed almost 100% implementation rate of ADP this year. Besides, mobility has come in the field of road communication.

All the money allocated for road maintenance has been spent this year. The amount allocated to each project has been spent this year. Work progress is good this year. The money allocated for the primary education development project has also been spent this year. Above all, the quality of work at LGED has increased.
