For the second time, an Islamic book campaign has been organized at Bangladesh University of Textiles (BUTEX) by a group of general Muslim students. The campaign began on September 17 and will continue until September 19.

This time, the campaign features over 3,500 books from more than 400 different collections and that from over 30 publishers. Students can collect the books from 10 AM to 3 PM.

Dr. Md. Emdad Sarkar, Associate Professor of the Fabric Engineering Department, told,'the main objective of this book campaign is to introduce students to books from various publishers. As a result, students' religious knowledge will increase. Alongside the experiences they gain from the university, gaining religious knowledge will provide future benefits. Currently, many conflicts and divisions stem from ignorance about religion, so to eliminate this ignorance, religious knowledge must be acquired, and books are a vital source of such knowledge.'

Rafiul Islam, a student from the 47th batch and founder of the online bookstore "Book Times," said he always had a desire to work with Islamic books alongside his studies, which led him to create a small library. When the idea of an Islamic book fair at their university arose, they wanted to present their publication's books to all students. They brought books from their own and other major publishers to the campaign, with the aim of spreading the message of Islam through books.

Md. Anik Hasan, a student from the 46th batch in the Yarn Engineering Department, remarked that while the current education system helps students acquire good skills, it does not necessarily shape them into good individuals. Therefore, to be not only skilled but also morally sound, Islamic values must be spread. And reading books is essential for spreading these values, which is the goal of this book campaign.

The first such book campaign at BUTEX was organized on March 2 and 3 of 2024, during which organizers reportedly distributed over 900 books to students.
