ICT Desk

Internet users across the country may experience slow speed or disruption for four hours due to maintenance work on the submarine cable system and bandwidth services at Kuakata station in Patuakhali.

Bangladesh Submarine Cables PLC, or BSCPLC, issued a notice in this regard on Saturday and expressed regret for the inconvenience.

According to a statement signed by the company’s General Manager (Operations and Maintenance), Saidur Rahman, the SEA-ME-WE 5 (SMW5), consortium has planned to install a lighting filter in the country’s second submarine cable system at Kuakata from 2AM to 6AM on Sunday.

During this time, all circuits connected to the Kuakata landing station via the SMW5 submarine cable will be affected.

However, circuits through the SEA-ME-WE-4 (SMW4), submarine cable at Cox's Bazar landing station will remain operational.

According to the statement, internet users may experience slow connectivity or temporary disruptions while the maintenance work is ongoing.
