Inter-hall cricket competition for girls begins at DU

Dhaka University girls' inter-hall cricket competition started on Tuesday at the central playground.

University Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Md. Akhtaruzzaman was present as the chief guest and inaugurated this competition.

Dhaka University Cricket Committee President Professor Dr. Abdulla Al Mahmud chaired the opening ceremony and Physical Education Center Advisor Professor Dr. Asim Sarkar and Director Md. Shahjahan Ali spoke.

Meanwhile, Dhaka University Teachers' Association President Professor Dr. Md. Nizamul Haque Bhuiyan, General Secretary Prof. Dr. Principals of various halls, resident teachers and students were present along with Zeenat Huda.

Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Md. Akhtaruzzaman emphasized on equal participation of students in the classroom and playground, saying that students get knowledge and training equally from both fields to become efficient and smart citizens.

Apart from studies, participation in sports and cultural activities also brings success in the professional life of students. He said that under the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Bangladesh has achieved remarkable progress in empowering women and establishing women's rights.

He mentioned that the participation of women in all fields including education and sports is increasing day by day with the encouragement and inspiration of the Prime Minister.

Bangladesh defeated Kuwait Maitri Hall by 32 runs in Bangmata Sheikh Fazilatunnesa Mujib Hall in the opening match.
