Int'l Rating Chess Competition held at Rajnagar

For the a one-day daylong international rapid rating chess competition was held in Muktijudda Complax at Rajnagar Upazila in Moulvibazar on Thursday. The competition supported by Rajnagar Thana Police and organized by the Association of Chess Players Moulvibazar.

Total 37 chess players from different districts of the country participated in the competition chaired by Rajnagar police station officer-in-charge Binoy Bhushan Roy and conducted by general secretary of the Association of Chess Players Moulvibazar Waziul Mehedi.

Rajnagar Upazila Nirbahi Officer Farzana Akhter Mita gave speech as a chief guest and distributed the cash money prize among the winners. And General Secretary of Rajnagar Awami League and General Secretary of Upazila Sports Association Milon Bakhat, Former President of Association of Chess Players Bangladesh Md. Enayet Hossain, President of Moulvibazar District Chess Association Advocate Mushtaq Ahmad Mom, President of Association of Chess Players Moulvibazar Md. Mosabbir Ali, president of Association of Chess Players Sunamganj Shah Mahfuzul Karim and Kaler Kantho correspondent Mahfuz Shakil and others. attended as special guests.

In the 7-round Swiss League chess competition, Manikganj chess player Jabed Al Azad became the champion, Dhaka chess player Suhel Chowdury was 2nd, Dhaka chess player Abu Hanif was 3rd, Bagerhat chess player Md. Masum Hussain was 4th, Sylhet chess player Md. Asiqur Rahman was 5th, Chittagang chess player Enayet Hossain was 6th. Moulvibazar Chess player Jaber Al Hamid. was 7th, Sylhet chess player Asaduzzaman Ahad was 8th.
Dhaka chess player Siam Chowdhury was 9th. Sunamganj chess player Shah Mahfuzul Karim was 10th.

Hamida Begum Jhuma and Chaity Rani got the 11th and 12th prizes for women. Topu Kor and Ibrahim Ahmed Fahim finished 13th and 14th in the U-14 category.

Hasnath Alahi Chowdhury served as the main arbiter in the game, assisted by Association of Chess Players Moulvibazar President Md. Mosabbir Ali and Joent Secretary Delwar Hossain Chowdhury Shahed.
