Indomitable Belayet gets chance to pursue varsity education at the age of 55

Belayet Sheikh, who has a thirst for knowledge and an indomitable will, got an opportunity to get admission in Barendra University of Rajshahi after failing several university admission tests.

Belayet, a man of 55 years old, himself conveyed this information in a status on social media on Monday (September 19) at noon, says a media report.

In the status, he wrote, “Alhamdulillah, I have passed the admission test in the Journalism Department of Rajshahi Barendra University. If I get my mother's permission, I will take enrolment, Inshallah.”

Belayet Sheikh took admission in class nine at the age of 50 to pursue higher education. After passing the Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) examination, he started preparing for university admission at the age of 55.

In the meantime, after failing to get admitted in Dhaka, Rajshahi, Chittagong and Jahangirnagar universities, he decided to appear in the admission test of the Barendra University, in Rajshahi. Accordingly, he sat for the admission test there and qualified. As a result, his long-cherished desire has been fulfilled.

Belayt Sheikh, a resident of Sreepur upazila of Gazipur, has two sons and one daughter. His elder son is doing business and younger son is a student of class XI.

Mentionable, Belayet is working as Sreepur upazila correspondent of a daily newspaper.
