I didn't call students 'Rajakars', my comment was distorted: PM

Staff Correspondent

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has said that her statement about the freedom fighters' children on the quota issue was distorted.

She said, “I did not call the students ‘Rajakars’; my statement was distorted. The students chanted slogans calling themselves ‘Rajakars’.

She made these remarks while visiting the violence-hit state-owned Bangladesh Television (BTV) Bhaban in the capital’s Rampura on Friday morning.

The Prime Minister entered the BTV Bhaban around 9:15 am and inspected all the sections heavily damaged in Thursday's mayhem by the miscreants during the quota reform movement.

Seeking public assistance to find the miscreants, the premier said, "Those involved in this destruction must be found and brought to justice. We need the cooperation of the public to find these enemies."

Sheikh Hasina further said, "As in the past, BNP-Jamaat has committed arson terrorism. This time they are different... they are attempting to tarnish the country's image and disrupt people's livelihoods by spreading the movement abroad."
