Goats distributed among 40 fishermen families for alternative employment in Rangamati

A free goat distribution program has been held in the Chittagong Hill Tracts region under the Fisheries Resources Development Project to create alternative employment opportunities for the fiscal year 2024-25.

Rangamati Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Habib Ullah (Maruf) was the chief guest at the free goat distribution program organized by the Rangamati Sadar Upazila Fisheries Department at the Rangamati Sadar Upazila Parishad premises on Wednesday at 11 am.

Speaking at the event, Deputy Commissioner Md. Habib Ullah said, "The hilly district is the best place to raise goats. The sole purpose of distributing these goats is to improve your standard of living and change the economic condition of your family. These goats will serve as your income generator."

The program was moderated by Sheikh Md. Ershad Bin Shahid, Senior Assistant Director of Rangamati Sadar District Fisheries Department and chaired by Upazila Executive Officer Rifat Asma. Assistant Commissioner and Executive Magistrate Md. Tamjid Rahman, Rangamati Sadar Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) Rubaiya Binte Kashem, LGED's Rangamati Sadar Upazila Engineer Pranab Roy, Rangamati Sadar Upazila Fisheries Department Field Assistant (Revenue) Mithun Dewan were present as special guests.

A total of 160 goats have been distributed to 40 registered fishermen in Rangamati Sadar Upazila, four per family.
