GD filed against Whip Shamsul, his followers

A general diary (GD) was lodged against Jatiya Sangsad Whip Shamsul Hoque Chowdhury and his followers on charge of threatening an Awami League (AL) leader and an activist of AL-nominated candidate Motaherul Islam Chowdhury.
Patiya Upazila AL Committee member Progyajoyti Barua Liton, alias Liton Barua, a resident of village Pirol under the upazila, lodged with the GD on Sunday night.
In the GD, the complainant said that he has been working for the AL-nominated candidate.
The incumbent lawmaker, Whip Shamsul, and his followers have been giving him threats directly and in different ways, he alleged in the GD.
Liton feared that he may have been killed in crossfire or fallen victim to ‘forced disappearance’ at Patiya or Chattogram city or sent to jail with false arms or a drug case before the election.
Fearing insecurity, he was urged to record the GD with the police station, read the complaint.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) Nezam Uddin of the police station said they will take necessary action in this regard.
