Gas shortage in Sylhet filling Stations

Gas shortage in Sylhet filling Stations

Sylhet Bureau

There are still 4 days left for the end of September this month. Allotment of various CNG filling stations in Sylhet district has already been completed. On Tuesday morning, the car had to return without gas after going to various filling stations without getting supplies. Drivers and passengers of various vehicles, including CNG-powered auto-rickshaws, have suffered.

Especially the ongoing SSC exam candidates have suffered more. Many candidates were seen walking to the exam center this morning.

local journalist Imran Ahmed from Golapganj upazila of Sylhet district told that there are 3 CNG filling stations in that upazila. But since this morning 3 pumps of Golapganj are not getting gas. Stating that the allotted allocation has ended, the authorities of all the 3 pumps are saying that there may be a crisis for the next 3-4 days. Gas supply can be normal if new allocation is received on September 30 or October 1.

It is known that the Jalalabad Gas Company allocates a certain amount of monthly gas to every pump in Sylhet district. But before the end of the month, many pumps in the district sell the allotted gas. As a result, before the end of the month, the gas pump will be in crisis.

Just like this, no gas was found at any pump in Golapganj today. As the supply was stopped at 3 gas stations in the upazila, drivers were standing in long queues for several hours to get gas from different places in the upazila. At one stage they came to know that the allocation is over and the gas is no longer available. Then the drivers and passengers of the gas-powered cars were in trouble.

Talking to the autorickshaw drivers, it is known that hundreds of autorickshaws are closed in Golapganj today due to lack of gas supply.

Sylhet Division General Secretary of Bangladesh Petroleum Dealers-Distributors Agents and Petrol Pump Owners Association Zubair Ahmad Chowdhury said on Tuesday afternoon - We have to comply with the load set by the government. Some of the filling stations in Sylhet where the supply has been cut off must have exhausted the allocation.

But time and again the stations are cautioned- so that they deliver within the allocation.

He said - after the fixed allocation, the new allocation comes with a new bill. It takes 2-3 days. So the drivers and passengers of gas-powered cars face temporary inconvenience.
