Shariful Islam, Lohagara (Narail)

A day-long free orthopedic medical camp and free medicines were distributed in Lohagara, Narail on Saturday morning.

Narail Deputy Commissioner Sharmin Akhter Jahan inaugurated the day-long free orthopedic medical camp organized by Lohagara Government Pilot High School with the courtesy of Pangu Hospital, Jessore and in collaboration with Health Care Pharmaceutical Limited.

Present at the event were Lohagara Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) Mithun Moitra, Lohagara Government Pilot High School Acting Headmaster SM Hayatuzzaman and journalists. The free orthopedic medical camp, held from morning to 2 pm, provided free medical services and medicines to more than five hundred poor men, women and children of Lohagara region.

Under the direction of Dr. AHM Abdur Rouf, a retired orthopedic surgeon of Jessore Medical College and founder of Pangu Hospital Jessore, Dr. Partha Pratim Chakraborty, resident surgeon of Dhaka Pangu Hospital, Dr. Mostafa Muntasir Mamun, Dr. Pradeep Chandra Sutradhar, Dr. Shantanu Chakraborty, and Dr. Md. Mehedi Hasan Rubel, medical officers of Jessore Pangu Hospital, attended to the patients arriving at the camp and provided them with medical certificates and medicines.

Acting headmaster of Lohagara Government Pilot High School, SM Hayatuzzaman, said, "In addition to improving the quality of education, such humanitarian initiatives organized by Lohagara Government Pilot High School will continue to serve the helpless and distressed people of this region."

Retired orthopedic surgeon Professor Dr. AHM Abdur Rouf, the organizer of the day-long free orthopedic medical camp, said, "As patients come to me, I should also go to the patients." He said that such humanitarian activities will continue in the future.

Nurjahan Begum, an elderly woman from Mallikpur village, Nasrin Akhter from Lohagara, and retired army member Murad Hasan, who came to receive treatment at the orthopedic medical camp, said that the locals have benefited from such arrangements and demand that such arrangements be continued in the future.
