Bangladesh Coast Guard has detained four miscreants along with one dredger while illegally extracting sand in Munshiganj.
Coast Guard Media Officer Lieutenant Commander Siam-ul-Haque informed this in a press release on Thursday.
He said that, based on secret information, a special operation was conducted by Coast Guard Station Gazaria on Wednesday from 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM in the Meghna River adjacent to Imamapur Sholani under Gazaria Police Station, Munshiganj. During the operation, four miscreants were detained along with one dredger while illegally extracting sand from the river.
The seized dredger and the detained miscreants were handed over to Gazaria Naval Police for necessary legal action.
To protect homesteads and arable lands of coastal residents from illegal sand miners, the Coast Guard will continue such operations in the future, the press release added.
