A devastating fire has broken out in 9 shops, including Agent Bank Asia and E-Post office at Bakshimool Union of Burichong Upazila of Cumilla on Sunday.

The amount of loss has been about Tk 20 lakh primarily , the traders said.

On Sunday afternoon, it was reported from the locals and traders who went to the spot, that at 10 o'clock on Saturday night at Fakirbazar of Bakshimul Union of Burichag Upazila, a fire broke out in the tea shop of Mobarak Hossain Dhanu Mia, and the adjacent shop, Agent Asia Bank and E-Post office were engulfed in flames. The flame catches. The fire was brought under control by local and Burichong fire service for about an hour.

Agent Bank Asia and e-post office were the most damaged. Moshiur Rahman, the official and entrepreneur of the bank said that the flames from the tea shop burnt furniture, computers, necessary documents and cash of Tk 4 lakh 90 thousand, the loss amounting to Tk 8 lakh. Two stores were burnt down. In this, about 2 lakh 50 thousand taka has been damaged along with goods.

The necessary equipment of Hossain's workshop shop was burnt and the loss was Tk 1 lakh. The necessary equipment of the workshop shop in Mahe Alam was burnt and the damage was about 3 lakh taka. Md. Kamal Hossain's furniture was burnt and the damage was about Tk 1 lakh. Nazrul Islam's godown and coating shop, fencing and tanning shop equipment were burnt. All the shops were burnt and the goods were damaged to the tune of 20,000 taka. Local traders said that the affected traders are suffering from depression.

In this regard, Ataur Rahman, officer in charge of Burichang Fire Station, said that as soon as we heard the news of the fire, we went to the spot and brought the fire under control with the help of local people.

Burichong Upazila Executive Officer (UNO) Halima Khatun said, Assistant Commissioner Land Officer Chamiul Islam went to the spot after receiving information about the incident. During the day, upazila election officials and others went to the spot and inspected.

According to their information, 9 shops were burnt and damage was also done. We are continuing our efforts to provide official assistance to all affected businessmen.
