Fascist govt can’t erase history of Mawlana Bhashani: Nazrul

Staff Correspondent

BNP Standing Committee member Nazrul Islam Khan today said that the fascist Sheikh Hasina-government cannot erase the history of Mawlana Abdul Hamid Khan Bhashani by excluding his biography from the textbook.

“Majlum Jananeta Mawlana Abdul Hamid Khan Bhashani is the undisputed leader of our freedom and liberation struggle.

I do not have words how to condemn the injustice done by the fascist Hasina government by excluding his biography from the textbook. Maulana Bhashani had made history through his humanitarian work,” he said.

“He is an invaluable asset of our history," the BNP leader added.

He was speaking at a mass rally organized by the Bhashani Onusari Parishad in front of Jatiya Press Club (JPC) here protesting the withdrawal of the biography of the Maulana Bhashani from the 5th and 8th class textbooks and demanding its re-inclusion in the 7th to 9th class textbooks, according to a press release.

"Honoring him will make us proud as a nation," he said, adding that creating confusion about Bhashani cannot undermine his contribution to the nation.

Without Maulana Bhashani, the correct history of Bangladesh freedom struggle will not be written, Nazrul added.

With Bhashani Onusari Parishad convener valiant freedom fighter Sheikh Rafiqul Islam Bablu in the chair, the rally was moderated by its joint convener Nuruzzaman Hira.

Jatiya Party (Kazi Zafar) chairman and former minister Mustafa Jamal Haider, Nagorik Oikya president Mahmudur Rahman Manna, Biplabi Workers Party general secretary Saiful Haque and Ganosamhati Andolan chief coordinator Zonayed Saki also spoke on the occasion, among others.
