Farewell Hajj -The Greatest Speech of All Time

Farewell Hajj -The Greatest Speech of All Time

By Md. Zillur Rahaman

Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) is the most beloved person in the world to Muslims. Unquestionably recognized by the Muslim community as the greatest human being the world has ever seen. Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) was not only a leader, he was the last prophet and world prophet, the greatest human being of all time.nd it is said that if he had not been created, the world would not have been created.

In the ranking of search engine Internet giant 'Google'.com, his name is on the first place in the list as the world's best person. The name of Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH) is on the first place in the book "World's Top 100 Wise Men" written by Michael Harts, that book was published in 1978, created a huge stir in various quarters. He wrote in his book The Hundred, “Muhammad (PBUH) its success resulted from an unparalleled combination of both secular and religious influences, that is why he can be identified as one of the greatest influential figures in history."

At a young age, Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH) made a stir in the Arab society by forming 'Hilful Fuzul' i.e. peace association with peace-loving youth with the aim of creating a true and beautiful society. The aim of Hilful Fuzul was to serve humanity, resist the tyrant, to establish peace and order and maintaining tribal harmony etc. In the Qur'an he is called 'Rahmatul lil A'lamin' or 'Mercy' for the people of the world.

After the conquest of Makkah, he issued the historic 'Madinah Sanad (Charter)' to maintain peace, harmony and order among the people of all communities including Muslims, Christians, Jews. This Medina charter was the first written agreement or constitution in the history of the world.

As a result of this charter, a wonderful harmonious relationship developed between Muslims and non-Muslims. The safety of human life and property is ensured and the right to practice one's own religion is established. Moreover, in the history of Islam as well as in the history of the world, the "Treaty of Hudaybiya" is a landmark event. This treaty marks the beginning of a new chapter in the history of the world. By signing this treaty, Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) showed an extraordinary political talent and foresight. Therefore, the 'Treaty of Hudaybiya' is being considered as an important event in the life of the Holy Prophet (PBUH). These various events have recognized him as the greatest human being of all time.

The great Allah sent the Holy Prophet (PBUH) to make the religion of Islam victorious and complete. He felt his departure when religion Islam attained victory and perfection. The Farewell Hajj of the Prophet (PBUH) was held in the 10th year of Hijri and lakhs of companions were present. The speech delivered at the last staff meeting in the life of any ideological leader is undoubtedly important.

Moreover, he had a strong apprehension that this would be the last Hajj and the last World Mass Conference of his life. And the perfection of the prophet's life has been achieved in the farewell Hajj speech of the world prophet Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH). In the 10th Hijri, in front of about 150,000 companions, he delivered the speech on the afternoon of the 9th of Zilhaj at the Maidan of Arafat, and the next day, on the day of Eid and the day of sacrifice, on the day of 10th of Zilhaj. His speech delivered on these two days is known as the historic Farewell Hajj speech.

So he appointed Hazrat Mu'az Ibn Jabal (RA) as the governor of Yemen and said, 'O Mu'az, perhaps you will not meet me again after this year. Maybe you will pass by my mosque and my grave. At the beginning of the historic farewell speech of our beloved Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), he said, "O people! Allah Almighty says: O mankind! I have created you from one male and one female and divided you into different nations and tribes, so that you may know each other. Indeed, he is the most honorable in the sight of Allah, the most pious.' (Surah Hujurat, verse 13). So an Arab on a non-Arab, there is no superiority of a non-Arab over an Arab, nor of a black over a white, nor of a white over a black. All people are children of Adam (AS) and Adam (AS) was created from the soil. O civilization! One Muslim is brother to another Muslim, all Muslims are brothers to each other, take care of your subordinates (servants) - what you eat, you feed them, what you wear, you also wear them.

Be careful! Do not exaggerate about religion; Because those before you were destroyed because of religious excesses. O people! Worship your Lord; Pray five times a day, fast in the month of Ramadan, give zakat of wealth willingly, come to your Lord's house and perform Hajj and obey the leaders; Then you can enter the Paradise of your Lord. O mankind! You listen to me. Maybe I will never meet you here again after this year. O mankind! Your blood and your wealth are forbidden and sacred to you like this day and this month until the day you meet your Lord. Soon you will meet your great Lord. Then he will ask about your deeds. I have delivered it to you. If any of you owes any deposit, it must be delivered to its recipient. Surely all kinds of interest were abolished. But your capital will remain intact.

Almighty Allah has decreed that there is no more interest. All interest of Abbas Ibn Abdul Muttalib was abolished. You shall not be wronged, nor shall you be wronged. All the blood demands of Jahili era were abolished. First I annulled the blood claim of the infant son of Ribaya ibn Harith ibn Abdul Muttalib. O mankind! Verily Satan has despaired forever of your being the lord of this land. But besides that, there are many things which you consider trivial, so that if you obey him, he will be happy. So beware of him concerning your religion. O mankind! Indeed, moving the months back and forth is in fact an increase in disbelief, by which the disbelievers are misled. But time revolves in nature according to its own rules. O mankind! Verily, Allah Ta'ala has determined for every recipient (inheritance) his share. The curse of Allah is on the person who establishes his lineage with someone other than his father and who acknowledges someone other than his master as his master. All debts are repayable and rights, things borrowed are refundable, gifts should also be exchanged, bailors will be liable to collect fines. Nothing of his brother is valid for anyone, unless he himself gives it willingly. It is not permissible for a woman to give anything from her husband's wealth to anyone without her husband's permission. Never oppress one another. Verily, you have rights over your wives and they have rights over you.

Your right over them is that they will never allow anyone in your bed that is displeasing to all of you and your right over them is that they will not engage in any indecent or shameful act. Be kind to women, because they are married to you. They do nothing for themselves. You have taken them as trusts of Allah and have acquired the right over their chastity through the word of Allah. Therefore, O mankind! You understand my words. I have delivered. I have left among you two clear things, which if you hold firmly you will never go astray: the Book of Allah and the Sunnah of His Prophet (PBUH). O mankind! Listen to me and understand.

You must know that every Muslim is the brother of another Muslim and Muslims are brothers. So nothing is lawful for a Muslim from his brother, until he gives it to him willingly. Therefore, do not wrong yourselves. Listen everyone, let those present convey these messages to those absent. Maybe many absent people will be more guarded than the present audience. Listen! When you are asked about me in the court of Allah, tell me what will you answer? The present Companions replied, You have duly fulfilled the duty assigned to you; Ya Rasulullah! (O Messenger of Allah!)

The present Companions replied, You have duly fulfilled the duty assigned to you; Ya Rasulullah! (O Messenger of Allah!) You have fulfilled the right of the Messenger and guided the Ummah to the path of welfare. Then he said to the Companions, 'What have I delivered? The present Companions said in unison, 'Yes, you have certainly reached it.' Then Rasulullah (SAW) raised his shahadat finger towards the sky and said, 'O Allah! You be the witness; O Allah! You be the witness; O Allah! Be a witness.

The Holy Prophet (PBUH) finished his speech and his countenance brightened. He looked pitifully into the sky with a pitiful voice and he said, 'O great Lord! Oh Allah! Have I been able to fully reach people with your invitation to religion? Then all the people present together said, surely you have reached your religion completely.' Then he said again that, 'O Lord! Listen, be witness, they say I have made your religion reach the people. I have done my duty faithfully.'

The prophet became silent due to the excess of expression. His face became radiant with heavenly light. At this moment the last verse of the Quran was revealed. "I have fulfilled your religion on this day. I have fulfilled My blessings upon you. I chose Islam as your religion" (Surah Maida verse 3). After that the Prophet (PBUH) remained silent for a while and the crowd is also silent. After a while the Prophet (PBUH) looked at the crowd and in a pitiful and serious voice said goodbye friends, goodbye.

Hazrat Rabi'a Ibn Umayyah Ibn Khalaf delivered the Farewell Hajj speech to the crowd (Ibn Hisham). In the month of Dhul Hajj in 632 AD, 29 days after the farewell Hajj, the Holy Prophet (PBUH) was afflicted with headache and fever. He passed away on Monday, 12th Rabiul Awal, at the age of 63. The Holy Prophet (PBUH) is not here today. He was the last prophet, the best human being ever. He delivered the greatest speech of all time, which is written in golden letters in the history of Islam.

From the beginning of creation to the end, this speech is honored with the status of excellence among all the speeches of the past world. There is no aspect of the emancipation of world humanity which has not been touched by this valuable speech. Basically the Farewell Hajj speech is an extract of the Prophet's 23 years of prophetic life and wisdom. Before three months had passed after this speech, he left this mortal world and crossed over to the immortal world.

Standing on the brink of life and death, he accepted the confession of the prophetic duty in the voice of millions of people. The sky of Arafah was heavy that day with the sky-splitting wails and silent yearnings of the devotees hearing the sound of 'Al-Bida', 'Al-Bida' in the mouth of the Prophet (PBUH). 'Have I delivered the message?' Hearing this repeated phrase, only one word came out of the mouths of the devotees with confused minds and wet eyes, 'Nayam'-yes. The perfection of Islam came through this Farewell Hajj speech. No more prophets will come and he left us two precious things-one is the best book of all time Al Quran and the other is his best Sunnah. It is said that if we hold fast to these two, we will never lose our footing.
