Severe cold in Chuadanga has disrupted public life. Severe cold is felt with frosty winds. The winter is felt more as the sun does not meet throughout the day.
At night, the fog is increasing and the intensity of winter is increasing. Many people have been seen taking advantage of the cold weather by burning straw.
A minimum temperature of 12.5 degrees Celsius was recorded in Chuadanga at 9 am on Thursday (January 23). At that time the air humidity was 99 percent. The first class meteorological office in Chuadanga said the temperature may drop further.
Meanwhile, the hard-working low-income people are suffering as the cold winds in the north intensify the winter. The demand for warm clothes has also increased in Chuadanga due to the onset of winter.
The footpaths are bustling with traffic from lower and middle class families. Due to the increase in the price of new clothes, the low-income people are turning to second-hand clothes shops. Barabazar Shaheed Hasan Chatwar of the city, along the road in front of the New Market, there are also stalls of old clothes in different parts of the city.
Jaminur Rahman, officer-in-charge of first class meteorological observatory of Chuadanga, said that the lowest temperature recorded in the district was 12.5 degrees Celsius at 9 am on Thursday. The weather office fears that this temperature may drop further.
On the other hand, the bone-chilling winter did not see the sun all day. The sun was not visible from Thursday morning till 2 pm till this report was written. In the morning, the traffic is also moving slowly in the fog. The poor and low-income people have suffered greatly in the bone-shaking winter. Cold people are trying to keep their bodies warm by burning fire to escape the cold.
Normal movement has stopped a lot in severe winter. The incidence of cold-related diseases has increased due to winter. The number of cold-related patients is increasing in government hospitals and private clinics. Children and the elderly are more affected. Low income people are not able to go to work due to severe winter.
