Elections are going to be held on May 8 in the first phase of these two upazila- Godagari and Tanore District of Rajshahi.

At least eight candidates have submitted nomination papers for the post of chairman in two upazilas. However Godagari upazila 06 and Tanore 02 UZ Chairmen candidates.

Six chairman candidates of Godagari upazila are- Rolling chairman and president of Upazila Jubo League Jahangir Alam, former member of Zilla Parishad Rabiul Alam, newly former chairman of Deopara Union Parishad and finance secretary of Upazila Jubo League Belal Uddin Sohel, former general secretary of Zilla Jubo Dal Sajedur Rahman Khan Markni, inactive Jamaat Leader Dr. Abdur Rahman and Awami League supporter Sunandan Das.

Accordingly Tanor's two candidates of UZ Chairmen there are Rolling Upazila Chairman and Upazila Jubo League President Lutfar Haider Rashid Maina and former Upazila Awami League General Secretary Abdullah Al Mamun. Jamaat announced candidates in two upazilas but none of them submitted nomination papers.

On the other hand, 02 candidates have submitted nomination papers for the post of Tanore Vice Chairman and 03 candidates for the post of Female Vice Chairman. In Godagari, 04 people have submitted nomination papers for the post of vice chairman and 02 women have submitted nomination papers for the post of female vice chairman.

According to this information from the District Election Office, the nomination papers have been submitted to the Online Nomination Submission System (ONSS). Monday (April 15) was the last day for candidates to submit their nomination papers.

Candidates' nomination papers will be scrutinized next Wednesday (April 17). The symbols will be allotted on April 23, after which the candidates will start campaigning.
