
Disrupting public peace : Three sent to jail by Mobile Court in Louhajang

In Munshiganj’s Louhajang upazila, a mobile court has sentenced three individuals to varying terms of imprisonment and fines for disrupting public order under the influence of heroin. The mobile court was conducted on Monday morning by Md. Abdullah Al Imran, Assistant Commissioner (Land) and Executive Magistrate of Louhajang Upazila.
Louhajang Police Station OC Md. Osman Gani stated that the mobile court, led by Executive Magistrate Abdullah Al Imran, carried out an operation in the Baultholi area of the upazila on Monday morning. During the operation, three individuals — Jummon Shikder, Sakib Mahmud, and Miraj Akon — were detained for causing public disorder while intoxicated with drugs.
Later, they were sentenced by the mobile court under Section 36(5) of the Narcotics Control Act, 2018 Jummon Shikder was sentenced to 45 days of imprisonment and a fine of Tk. 100, Sakib Mahmud received 45 days of imprisonment and a fine of Tk. 500, Miraj Akon was given 1 month of imprisonment and a fine of Tk. 200. All three were later sent to the district jail.
According to the upazila administration, such operations will continue as part of a zero-tolerance policy against drug abuse
