DIG Mizan dismissed from service

Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of police Mizanur Rahman, who was in prison after being suspended and convicted in corruption case, has been dismissed from service.

A gazette notification signed by senior secretary of the Home Ministry Md. Aminul Islam following the order of the President issued the order on Thursday.

According to the notification, several charge sheets were submitted against Mizanur Rahman, including Money Laundering Prevention Act, after completion of investigation into a case of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) on June 6, 2019. The High Court awarded him three years sentence. As a result, Md. Mizanur Rahman was dimissed from February 23 last as per the section of the 42(1) of the Public Service Act 2018.

DIG Mizanur Rahman was awarded three years jail sentence on February 23 of this year for taking bribe.

ACC director Sheikh Md Fanafillah filed a case bringing allegation of bribe worth Tk 40 lakh against the police officer on July 16, 2019.
