Crowd hand over thief to police by beating him up at Gafargaon

A thief named Sujan Mia (45) was beaten up and handed over to the police for stealing from a widow's house in Gafargaon, Mymensingh. Meanwhile, a widow named Sahar Begum, the owner of the house, was injured while chasing the group of thieves.
The incident took place in Bharabhara village of Rasulpur union of Gafargaon upazila last Friday night. The arrested thief Sujan Mia is the son of Abul Hashem of Dhala Namapara village of Trishal upazila.
According to police and local residents, a gang of 7/8 thieves led by Sujan Mia broke the lock of the widow Sahara Begum, wife of deceased Nurul Amin of Bharbhara village of Rasulpur union of the upazila and entered the house. At that time, the local people came forward and chased the group of organized thieves at the call of Sahara Begum.
The group of thieves escaped after being chased, but a thief named Sujan Mia was caught by the mob. Later he was beaten up and handed over to the police.
Gafargaon police station officer-in-charge Md. Shahinuzzaman Khan said that the widow's brother-in-law Hamed Ali filed a complaint with the police station. Legal action will be taken after investigation.
