The central committee has approved the upazila branch committee of Tribal Welfare Association (TWA), a non-political national social organization consisting of small ethnic groups in Juri Upazila of Moulvibazar on Tuesday.

Secretary General John Sangma approved the committee on the instructions of Jewel Areng MP, chairman of the Central Committee of the Tribal Welfare Association (TWA).

A committee formation meeting was held at Elbintila (Fultola) Khasi Punji of Fultala Union of the Upazila recently. In the meeting, under the chairmanship of TWA Sylhet divisional senior leader Danesh Sangma, a 21-member committee was unanimously formed with Michael Nongrum as the chairman and Wanmon Longdoh as the general secretary.

Others in the committee are – Vice Chairman Anil Joy Dikhar, Antony Patuat, Asperles Pohlong, General Secretary Wanmon Longdoh, Joint Secretary Bishnu Teli, Joint Secretary Sudipta Ghagra, Treasurer Amrush Sangma, Joint Treasurer Riling Rupsi, Organizing Secretary Gopesh Munda, Joint Organizing Secretary Mesina lamin, Publicity Secretary Dilang Yangyung, Joint Publicity Secretary Bharot Kurmi, Education Secretary Karno Tudu, Sports Secretary Upen Bhumij, Cultural Secretary Sumita Hasda, Women Affairs Secretary Basonti Kurmi, Department Secretary Pronoti Nokrek, Members Mintu Rema, Kaliprosat Santal, Mujib Sangma.

A discussion meeting of the newly formed committee of TWA Juri Upazila Branch was held in the meeting room of Juri Model Academy on Monday (September 5) afternoon. The meeting was presided over by the newly announced chairman Michael Nongrum and senior leader of Tribal Welfare Association Sylhet division Danesh Sangma was present as the chief guest.

TWA Sylhet Sadar Upazila Branch Advisor Elias Nokrek, Juri Press Club President Tanzir Ahmed Rassel, General Secretary Saiful Islam Sumon, Juri Reporters Unity President Monirul Islam, Press Club Vice President Haris Mohammad and others were present as special guests.

Earlier in the afternoon, the leaders of the newly formed committee had a courtesy meeting with Juri Upazila Executive Officer (UNO) Sonia Sultana. At that time UNO Sonia Sultana said, for forming such a committee with various communities, congratulated the leaders of the newly formed committee. He said, all kinds of cooperation will be provided by the administration, including the socio-economic development of minority groups.
