A colorful rally and seminar was held in Satkhira on the occasion of World Heart Day-2022 with the slogan "Use Heart for Every Heart" in Thursday morning.

Dr. Suman Kumar Das, consultant of the cardiology department, gave a welcome speech at the seminar under the chairmanship of the head of the cardiology department, Dr. Sanjay Sarkar, at the Test center of the medical college, organized by the cardiology department of Satkhira Medical College Hospital. Principal of Satkhira Medical College Professor Dr. Ruhul Quddus, Superintendent of Satkhira Medical College Hospital Dr. Sheikh Kudrat-e-Khuda, Academic Coordinator AHSM Kamruzzaman, Satkhira District General Secretary of Swachip and BMA Dr. Md. Monowar Hossain, Sahiyogi spoke as special guests in the seminar. Professor and Head of Medicine Department Dr. Kazi Arif Ahmed, Associate Professor Dr. Shankar Prasad Biswas, Associate Professor Dr. Md. Shariful Islam and others.

Speakers in the seminar said that heart disease can be reduced to a large extent through proper diet and regular exercise and stay healthy. Heart disease has the highest mortality rate compared to other diseases.

Every two minutes a person dies of heart disease in the country. And about 32 people died every hour. The daily death toll stands at around 769. The number of which is 23 thousand 83 per month. According to estimates, 2,77,000 people die of heart failure every year. Tobacco accounts for 24 percent of this. One lakh 61 thousand people die annually in the country due to diseases related to tobacco use.

Speakers at the seminar said that stronger laws are needed to reduce the risk of tobacco-related heart disease. Like other countries of the world, the day is being observed seriously in Bangladesh. Doctors and interns of Satkhira Medical College Hospital were present at this time.
