
Coast Guard seized 25- kg of cannabis worth about Tk 7.5 lakh in Chandpur
Coast Guard in an operation in Chandpur seized 25- kg of cannabis worth about Tk 7.5 lakh on Monday morning .
Coast Guard Media Officer Lieutenant Commander Harun-or-Rashid provided this information in a press release.
Based on secret information, on Monday, 12 May 2025 at 1:00 AM, the Coast Guard Station Chandpur conducted a special operation in the area adjacent to Baheerchar of Mohanpur under the North Matlab Police Station of Chandpur. During the operation, two abandoned sacks in the mentioned area were searched, and 25 kg of cannabis worth approximately 7.5 lakh taka was seized.
Sensing the presence of the Coast Guard, the smugglers fled, so no one could be arrested.
Legal procedures are underway regarding the seized cannabis.
To maintain the law and order situation of the country, the Bangladesh Coast Guard is continuing constant surveillance and patrols in responsible areas. As a result, there has been a significant reduction in criminal activities and overall improvement in the law and order situation in the coastal and riverside areas under the Coast Guard's jurisdiction.
The Bangladesh Coast Guard will continue such operations in the future as well.
