
Clash over land dispute : 6 including Swechchhasebak Dal leader hurt in Kotalipara

A clash broke out between two groups over the construction of a house on disputed land in Kotalipara upazila of Gopalganj district, leaving at least six people injured, including a leader of the Swechchhasebak Dal.
The incident occurred on Saturday morning at Buruyabari village under the upazila.
The injured were identified as Samiul Fakir (17), son of Habib Fakir and the publicity secretary of Radhaganj Union Volunteer Party; Habib Fakir (55); Chayna Begum (45); Hemayet Fakir (55); Samsunnahar (45); and Sajib Fakir (20).
Among them, Habib Fakir, Chayna Begum, Hemayet Fakir, and Samsunnahar have been admitted to Kotalipara Upazila Health Complex for treatment.
According to local sources, the injured Habib Fakir and Hemayet Fakir are uncle and nephew. They had been in a long-standing dispute over ancestral property. Although several arbitration meetings were held to resolve the issue, no settlement was reached.
Recently, while efforts were underway to measure the land and settle the dispute, Habib Fakir and his men allegedly began demolishing an old house on the disputed land to build a new one. At this point, Hemayet Fakir and his wife tried to stop them, leading to a violent clash between the two sides.
Kotalipara Police Station OC Khondokar Hafizur Rahman confirmed the incident, saying, “A scuffle occurred over a land dispute.
