For accelerating the growth of fuel and power production in the country, a government purchase committee on Wednesday handed contract to a Chinese state-run company for drilling two more wells for gas extraction in the Sylhet division.
The drilling project would be worth Tk444.85 crore and the Beijing-based Sinopec would enter into an agreement with the Sylhet Gas Fields Ltd, in this regard, according to the decision taken in the meeting chaired by Finance Minister Abul Hassan Mahmood Ali.
The drillings would be done at Sylhet-11 and Rashidpur-13 wells.
