Chief justice to outline judiciary roadmap Saturday

Staff Correspondent

Chief Justice Syed Refaat Ahmed is set to outline a roadmap for the judiciary in an address to subordinate court judges.

The event is scheduled for Saturday morning in the Supreme Court's inner garden.

He would present a roadmap addressing key issues related to the judiciary, including judicial independence, decentralisation, and institutional separation, as mentioned in his inaugural speech to Supreme Court lawyers on Aug 12, the Appellate Division announced in a press release on Thursday.
The law ministry issued an order on Sept 3, instructing all judges across Bangladesh to attend the event.

According to the order, one senior judicial magistrate or metropolitan magistrate, designated by the chief judicial magistrate or chief metropolitan magistrate of each court, must ensure the presence of all judges from subordinate courts at the event on Sept 21.

The event is expected to see the attendance of nearly 2,000 judges from across the country, the press release added.

Law Advisor Asif Nazrul, justices from both divisions of the apex court, the Judicial Reform Commission head and former Appellate Division justice Shah Abu Naeem Mominur Rahman, Attorney General Md Asaduzzaman, and the president and general secretary of the Supreme Court Bar Association are also scheduled to attend.

Media personnel have been invited to cover the event, with the requirement to present identification upon entry.
