Atiqur Rahman Atik, Gaibandha

In Gaibandha, the sacrificial animal fairs have gathered ahead of Eid-ul-Azha. A large number of cows and goats are being imported in every haat market.
Sales are also good.

Even though no Indian cow has been seen yet, both sellers and buyers are not happy with buying and selling cows. Complaints of the buyers - the price is high and the complaints of the sellers are not matching the price.

Owners of large-scale cattle farms are unhappy about not getting the expected price. In these animal markets, the lessees and members of law and order forces are working for security.

On the occasion of Qurbani Eid, there are 26 regular permanent animal haats, 15 temporary or seasonal haats, and 8 online haats in 7 upazilas of the district.

A large number of local and foreign, small and large cattle and goats are being imported and sold in these haats. Farmers rearing cows throughout the year sell a large number of sacrificial cows in these markets. Businessmen, job seekers and financially well-off people are thronging the haat-bazaars to buy last-minute choice cows and goats for sacrifice.

As Eid is only a few days away, wholesalers from different districts of the country including Dhaka, Chittagong, Rajshahi, Rangpur are thronging the bazaar, but the prices of cattle feed and car fares are several times higher.

However, due to brokers and brokers, cattle and goats are not directly available from farmers. Due to them, the prices of cows and goats are increasing, buyers said.

However, sellers complain that the price of various cattle feed including hay, husk has increased. The sellers and farmers said that the price of cow is not available compared to the cost of rearing a cow throughout the year.

Livestock officer of Gaibandhar Sadar Upazila Tarun Kumar Datta told The Country Today that 23 thousand 116 animals have been kept ready in Sadar Upazila. Sadar Upazila has a total of five huts including four permanent huts and one temporary one for the sale of these animals. We are always ready to treat animals.
