Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Science and Technology University (BSMRSTU) of Gopalganj defeated Dhaka University (DU) in the inter-university debate competition organized by the Public University Students Association of Rajshahi (PUSAR).

Presided over by Member of Bangladesh Public Service Commission (PSC) and teacher of Department of Mass Communication and Journalism of Rajshahi University Dr Pradeep Kumar Pandey , Rajshahi City Corporation Mayor and Awami League Presidium Member Khairuzzaman Liton was present as the chief guest.

Besides, RU 's former vice-chancellor Professor Dr. was present as a special guest. Sarwar Jahan Sajal, Professor Jannatul Ferdous of Rabi Social Work Department, Rajshahi-2 Constituency Member of Parliament Principal Shafiqur Rahman Badsha MP along with artists, Housing and Public Works Ministry Project Director Engineer Shamsul Alam.

The topic of debate was "This parliament does not support student politics in BUET". Where was the government party Dhaka University and opposition party Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman University of Science and Technology.

As members of the winning team BSMRSTU students of Accounting and Information Systems Department 2017-18 session, Tanhim Rahman, student of Finance and Banking Department 2018-19 session, Mohammad Ali Toha and Environmental Science and Disaster Management Department 2021-22 session student Naima Sultana were members. Apart from this, Jannatul Ferdous, student of International Relations Department 2019-20 session, Mamunur Rashid, student of Finance and Banking Department 2019-20 session were as associate debaters.

Commenting on the winners, Mohammad Ali Toha said, "It is great to win the university in such a competition. Amana was nervous at first seeing the opponent team DU, but soon felt that if we have the ability, we will be successful. At the end of the debate, I am very happy to be the winner and feel proud to represent my university.

After the ceremony, Rajshahi City Corporation Mayor and Awami League presidium member Khairuzzaman Liton handed over the prizes to the winners. He congratulated both the winning and defeated universities and wished them all the best.
