BSF installed LED lights, cameras on Indian border; BGB intensifies security in Sunamganj
Sylhet Bureau
The Indian Border Security Force (BSF) has recently installed new LED lights, cameras, and sensors along the Bangladesh-India border in Sunamganj.
Following recent tensions and reciprocal attacks between Pakistan and India, the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has intensified its day and night patrols across 90 kilometers of the Sunamganj border under the jurisdiction of the 28 BGB Battalion of the Sylhet Sector.
The development was confirmed on Sunday night by Lieutenant Colonel AKM Zakaria Kadir, Commanding Officer of the 28 BGB Battalion in Sunamganj.
Residents living along the Sunamganj frontier reported that over the past couple of days, the BSF has not only increased its manpower but has also replaced the previously used red halogen lights—facing toward Bangladesh—with newly installed LED lights, surveillance cameras, and sensors at every electric post on the Indian side.
Lt. Col. AKM Zakaria Kadir further said, to counter pushbacks, secure the border, and prevent all types of smuggling and border-related crimes, the BGB has shifted personnel from administrative roles to operational duties and deployed them round-the-clock to ensure heightened border security.
