Body of youth recovered in Baniachong

The body of a young man named Gholam Rabbani (25) was recovered from the women and children's help desk (helpdesk) of Baniachong police station in Tuesday.

His body was recovered with a belt and genji tied around the fan of the help desk room, said Mohammad Delwar Hossain, officer-in-charge of Baniachong police station. The deceased youth is the son of deceased Mahir Uddin of Nagerkhana Mohalla, Nandipara, North-Eastern Union Baniachong No. 1.

Baniachong Police Station OC Delwar Hossain said that a group of police arrested Golam Rabbani from the memorial of Baniachong Barabazar in a case of theft. The detained Rabbani was kept in the help desk room next to Hajat.

Police found Rabbani hanging from the fan of the room around 7:30 pm. Later, when the body was brought down to Baniachong Upazila Health Complex, the doctor in charge declared Dr. Md. Nashrullah Rabbani as dead.

OC Delwar Hossain said that there are a total of 7 cases against him in Baniachong police station including theft and robbery. He is known as a thief in the area. A few days ago he was released from jail for almost 3 months in the TomTom theft case.

However, the locals said that the deceased Rabbani used to steal tomtoms from different areas by mixing with thieves. He used to drive TomTom himself. Later Gholam Rabbani got involved in these thefts and robberies by mixing with bad boys.
