Body of old man found in pond afrer missing in Begumganj

Police have recovered the body of an old man from Begumganj upazila of Noakhali.
The body was recovered from the pond of Khasru Mia in Madhya Nazirpur village of Begumganj union of the upazila on Thursday (December 26) morning.
The deceased, Abdul Motaleb (75), is the son of the deceased Nur Ahmed of Mujahidpur village of the same union.
According to police and local sources, local people found Motaleb Mia's body floating in the pond of Khasru Mia's house in Madhya Nazirpur village of Begumganj union of the upazila around 10 am on Thursday. On receiving the information, the police of Begumganj police station went to the scene and prepared a post-mortem report of the body.
Quoting Niyat's family, the police further said that Motaleb was unbalanced and mentally ill. He left the house on Tuesday, December 24. After that, he did not return home. It is believed that he died after falling into a pond while wandering.
Liton Dewan, OC of Begumganj Police Station, said that the deceased was mentally unstable. He died after falling into the pond. Since the family had no complaints, the body was handed over to the family without an autopsy.
