BNP sends letter to DMP

Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) has sent a letter to the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner seeking permission to hold a discussion in observance of its founder Ziaur Rahman's 88th birth anniversary.
The letter, signed by the party's senior joint secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi, was sent to the DMP Headquarters in the capital on Tuesday (January 16).
In the letter, permission was sought to hold a discussion at Institution of Engineers Bangladesh (IEB) auditorium in the capital on Thursday (January 18) in observance of BNP founder Ziaur Rahman's 88th birth anniversary.
Ziaur Rahman was born on January 19, 1936 at Bagbari in Gabtoli of Bogura district. He ascended to state power on November 7, 1975. Then, he founded Bangladesh Nationalist Party on September 1, 1978. He was killed in an army coup on May 30, 1981 at Chattogram Circuit House.
