BGMEA highlights Bangladesh’s RMG strides at Sourcing Journal’s Fall Summit in New York

Anwar Hossain, administrator of the Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA), participated in the prestigious ‘Fall Summit of the Sourcing Journal’ held in New York on November 12.
Miran Ali, member of the Support Committee of BGMEA, also joined the summit, which gathered key industry leaders, experts, and stakeholders from the global apparel and sourcing sectors, said a press release here today.
During the event, both Anwar Hossain and Miran Ali were interviewed on the main stage, where they shared insights into the revolutionary changes that have taken place in Bangladesh while providing an overview of the transformative strides in the country’s apparel industry.
Anwar Hossain highlighted the commitment of Bangladesh’s interim government towards ensuring workers' rights, environmental sustainability, and upholding freedoms for its people.
He shed light on the efforts Bangladesh has made to modernize its garment industry and the collaborative efforts between the government, industry stakeholders, and workers to create a safer, fairer, and more sustainable apparel sector.
Miran Ali spoke about Bangladesh’s emerging leadership role in global decarbonization efforts and responsible purchasing practices.
He emphasized how the country is making significant strides in adopting environmentally responsible methods of production, while also positioning itself as a global leader in ethical sourcing.
Throughout the summit, Anwar Hossain engaged with numerous stakeholders, including meeting with the President of the American Apparel and Footwear Association (AAFA).
Anwar Hossain reaffirmed Bangladesh’s commitment to enhancing trade relations and continuing engagement from BGMEA to further strengthen collaboration between Bangladesh and the U.S.
The BGMEA administrator met with several major American apparel brands, including J.Crew, Wrangler, and Target, along with key technology solutions providers.
During the meetings, the discussions focused on expanding business opportunities and enhancing the competitiveness of Bangladesh’s apparel sector through technological innovation and strategic partnerships.
