BGB seizes 9 gold bars in Jashore

The Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has seized 9 gold bars in a special operation at Amrakhali area in Benapole of Jashore.
Acting on a tip-off, the members of BGB conducted the operation at around 9:30pm on Saturday. At one stage, they signaled an auto-van for stopping but the deriver of the vehicle fled away sensing the imminent risk. Later, nine gold bars were recovered searching the auto-ban, Lt Col Shahed Minhaj Siddiqui, commanding officer of BGB-49 battalion, said.
According to sources, Md Milan alias Chhoto Babu (35), son of late Mahar Ali of Bagachra, of Sharsha Upazila, was the driver of the van, the officer said.
A process in underway to file as case against the absconder with Benapole Port Police Station, he added.
