Voting for the second phase of Upazila Parishad elections was held peacefully at Betagi in Barguna, a coastal town of the country.
Upazila Awami League Joint Secretary and UP Chairman Md. Khalilur Rahman Khan won the post of upazila chairman by getting 12,321 votes on Tuesday.
His nearest rival, former organizing secretary of Upazila Awami League and former UP chairman K. Fahria Sangram Aminul got 10 thousand 38 votes, former upazila vice chairman and Awami Jubo League member Abdus Sobahan got 9 thousand 709 votes, current upazila chairman and General Secretary of Awami League. Md. Maksudur Rahman Forkan got 7 thousand 613 votes, former panel chairman of Barguna Zilla Parishad Doat pen symbol candidate Nahid Mahmud Hossain Litu got 3 thousand 757 votes, central member of Bangladesh Awami Jubo League Md. Aminul Islam Khan Shipon got 724 votes and Awami League member Md Riaz Hossain got 181 votes.
Journalist Nipu Rani Das has won the post of upazila Female Vice Chairman. She got 15 thousand 675 votes and General Secretary of Upazila Jubo League Mahmul Hasan Mohsin got 33 thousand 487 votes as Vice-President. .
