Beating of college student alleged in Puthia

An allegation has been made of beating a young man named Sabbir, a second-year student of the (BM) branch of Dhokrakul Degree College in Puthia, Rajshahi.
The victim Sabbir (23) is the son of Shukur Ali from Bashbaria village of Bhallukgachhi Union.
Regarding the beating, the victim Sabbir filed a written complaint with Puthia police station accusing two people. The accused are Apu (25), son of Aynal from the Dhokrakul area, and Siam (24), son of Santu from the same area.
According to the complaint, there had been a longstanding dispute between the victim and the accused due to previous enmity. On the way to and from college, Apu and Siam had been verbally abusing, intimidating, and threatening the victim several times.
In continuation of this, on the morning of May 8 at 11 a.m., Apu, Siam, and two unidentified individuals came inside Dhokrakul College and started abusing Sabbir. When the victim told them to stop, on Apu's order, Siam attacked Sabbir aiming at his head with a GI pipe with the intent to kill, resulting in a bloody injury to the back of his head. Apu beat Sabbir randomly with an iron pipe, causing bruises and swelling in different parts of his body. The two unidentified persons slapped and punched him, causing bruises on his face.
In this regard, the victim Sabbir said, “Apu and Siam are still intimidating and threatening me in various ways. On the day of the incident, local people rescued me and took me by van to the Puthia Upazila Health Complex. I demand justice for this.”
However, despite several attempts to contact the accused Apu and Siam via mobile phone, their phones were found switched off, so their statements could not be taken.
Ahsan Ullah, Principal of Dhokrakul Degree College, said, “I was in the office, and hearing the screams, I came out and saw Apu and Siam had bloodied Sabbir. I heard that Sabbir needed seven stitches on his head. Since it was a college matter, I tried to resolve it within the college but failed.”
Puthia Police Station OC Kabir Hossain said, “We have received the complaint, and action will be taken after investigation.”
