Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman was a visionary leader. He took groundbreaking steps to deliver eggs, milk and meat to people. As a part of this he established Milk vita which is contributing a lot and providing milk demand of the country. We want to deliver safe food everywhere. Researchers should play a role in increasing milk and meat production and exporting it abroad.
Bangladesh Agricultural University (BAU) Vice-Chancellor Dr. Lutful Hasan said these things in the seminar titled 'Obstacles and Opportunities in Dairy Industry in Bangladesh' organized on the occasion of Animal Husbandry Day-2023. The seminar was held at Shilpacharya Zainul Abedin auditorium on Tuesday (March 14) at around 10:30 am organized by Bau Animal Husbandry Faculty.
The chief guest, chairman of Bangladesh Milk Producers Cooperative Union Limited (Milkvita), Sheikh Nadir Hossain Lipu stated that, 'There is no substitute for milk to build a talented nation. So Bangabandhu founded Milkvita in 1973. There are still many hurdles in the country's dairy industry. To build a smart Bangladesh, all the challenges of the dairy sector have to be faced. If you have honesty and courage, you can overcome all obstacles and challenges.
He also said that a few days ago, a foreign company spread false rumors about the presence of antibiotics in the milk produced in the country. Milkvita is moving forward defeating all lies. Still domestic and foreign conspiracies continue. Milkvita and the government are working to advance the country's dairy industry by facing all obstacles.
In the program under the chairmanship Dean of the Faculty of Animal Husbandry of Prof. Dr. Shajeda Akhter,Vice-Chancellor of BAU Prof Dr. Lutful Hasan was present as an honored guest. Patuakhali Science and Technology Forum Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Syed Sakhawat Hossain was present as an honored guest. Bangladesh Animal Husbandry Association President Prof. Dr. Md. Nurul Islam Director General of Bangladesh Livestock Research Institute SM Jahangir Hossain and BAU Student Affairs Advisor Prof. Dr. Khan Md. Shaiful Islam were present as a special guest.
The welcome speech was presented by Convener of the Animal Husbandry Day-2023 Celebration Committee Prof. Dr. Mohammad Moniruzzaman and the main article was presented by BAU Dairy Science Department Prof. Dr. Mohammad Ashiqul Islam.
At beginning a colorful joy rally was taken out by the Faculty of Animal Husbandry on the occasion of Animal Husbandry Day around 10 am. With the participation of teachers, students and invited guests of the faculty, the rally circumambulated various important roads of the university and ended at Shilpacharya Zainul Abedin Auditorium.
