Bangabandhu's Homecoming Day observed at JU

Bangabandhu Institute of Comparative Literature and Culture (BICLC) of Jahangirnagar University (JU) administration observed the historic homecoming day of Bangabandhu with due respect on Tuesday.

Marking the day, JU vice-chancellor (VC) Prof Nurul Alam unveiled a mural of Bangabandhu at the entrance of the JU Bangabandhu Institute of Comparative Literature and Culture (BICLC) and paid homage to the Father of the Nation while unveiling the mural on the same morning.

JU VC initially remarked that on this day in 1972, Bangabandhu's homecoming was a journey to the path of light. Independent and sovereign Bangladesh was achieved under the leadership of Bangabandhu. So Bangabandhu is forever in the hearts of Bengalis.

Prof Tapodhira Bhattacarya, former VC of Assam University addressed the function,"Bangabandhu is not only among the people of Bangladesh, he is a source of inexhaustible inspiration for all Bengali speaking people."

The programme was conducted by BICLC Director Prof Rezaul Islam while Treasurer Prof Rasheda Akhtar, West Bengal University of India Bangla departmemt professor Nikhilesh Roy, Vidyanagar College of Kolkata professor Banani Chakraborty, JU Chhatra League President Aktaruzzaman Sohel, General Secretary Habibur Rahman Liton, among others, were present.

Later, Tapodhira Bhattacarya participated at a discussion on Bangabandhu at Zahir Raihan Auditorium.
