Awareness vital to control 4th wave of Corona

Awareness vital to control 4th wave of Corona

Md. Atikur Rahman

Earlier this year, when the rate of corona infections dropped completely and the number of deaths fell to zero, experts predicted that the deadly disease was not completely eradicated.

The infection can grow at any time. The current rate of corona infection is proof that their prediction was correct. The daily detection rate has exceeded 11 percent in more than four months. Now everyday people are dying due to corona virus.

Currently, the number of people infected with corona in the country stands at 19 lakh 86 thousand 490 people. Numbers cannot always be judged by the rate of corona infection. Everyone used to go to the testing center, whether they had symptoms or not. Now if there are no symptoms no one goes to get tested. Many times it is not even caught in the exam.

It should be noted that a suitable antidote for Corona has not yet been discovered. Immunization and compliance with hygiene rules is trusted. Although we claim success in vaccination, still not all men and women have been brought under this program. About 70 percent of people in Bangladesh have received the first dose of vaccination.

Not all of those who took the first dose took the second dose. Fewer people took a third or booster dose. While booster doses do not provide 100% protection against corona infection, people who receive the first or second dose are by no means safe.

Those who have not yet been vaccinated should ensure vaccination. It should also be remembered that taking one dose, two doses or a booster dose does not mean that the person will be safe for life. Vaccine efficacy also decreases over time. In many countries, the fourth dose is given six months after the booster dose. New initiatives should be taken to vaccinate all those who are at high risk of contracting the virus, especially the elderly and the elderly. In terms of vaccination, it can be seen that the rate of vaccination in remote areas is much lower than in Dhaka. Additional attention should be paid to this aspect.

Another way to protect yourself from corona infection is to follow hygiene rules, wear masks regularly, maintain distance. Many times crowds or public gatherings cannot be avoided for daily living. In this case, hygiene rules should be followed. Many people used to wear masks and practice hygiene when infections were high, but that has now been relaxed.

The fourth wave of the current corona has started so relaxation is far away and everyone needs to focus on following new hygiene rules. It is very important to protect yourself and others. The Ministry of Public Administration has ordered to ensure that government officials and employees wear masks on June 21. However, this order should not only be followed in government offices, it should also be ensured that everyone wears masks in private offices, markets, public gathering places, fairs and tourist centers. The work has to be done individually, institutionally and collectively.

Among the recently infected people are also those who have been infected for the second time. Therefore, there can be no negligence in following the hygiene rules regarding Corona. Vaccination programs should be continued along with awareness.

However, the reality is that people have forgotten about Corona and hygiene rules. But Corona struck again. Its symptoms have already been noticed across the country. Even though cold, fever and cough appear in almost every house, doctors are wondering whether these are the type of corona virus.

Illness has now become casual across the country. If tested, thousands of corona patients may be found among them. But no one has any fear or worry yet. Due to which Corona can spread quickly. If the corona grows unnoticed, it will be difficult to control it. Everyone seems to have forgotten the suffering of people to celebrate Eid-ul-Azha last year. Corona epidemic hit our town.

People have so quickly forgotten about those miserable days of lockdown that this time, despite the precautions, no one came back to the village house without following the hygiene rules. No one has warned that Corona can take a dangerous form if hygiene rules are not followed between going and coming. The relevant department of the government has also said everything to say. But no steps to comply with hygiene rules were seen anywhere. As a result, experts fear that the corona infection will increase at a large rate due to the neglect of hygiene rules during the celebration of Eid-ul-Azha.

Although the government has made it mandatory for everyone to wear a mask, most of the people have not obeyed that directive. Hygiene rules were neglected everywhere, including going home on Eid, returning journey, various entertainment centers including parks, animal markets. The reckless movement of people without masks has been seen everywhere including roads, markets, launches, bus and railway stations. Hygiene rules were not observed anywhere.

Hygiene rules were neglected in animal markets in remote villages of the country including the capital. There was also widespread apathy among buyers and sellers in following social distancing and hygiene rules amid the coronavirus situation.

There is no harm in following social distancing. In view of everything going so loosely, experts fear that the corona infection will increase on a large scale. Although fever, cold and cough have already appeared in every house of the country including the capital. Some are suffering from corona, some from dengue fever. Many are also affected by seasonal fever and respiratory tract infection fever. That is, currently people are suffering from four types of fever. Although the symptoms of covid are milder this time than before.

But these fevers should not be neglected. There is corona and dengue in the country. Symptoms of both of these are fever. But whatever fever comes, it cannot be neglected. Apathy and cynicism can lead to complications.

The first case of corona virus was detected in the country on March 8, 2020. The Department of Health confirmed the first death in the country on March 18 of that year, 10 days after the first patient was identified. The highest death toll that year was 64.

The number of patients has been on the rise since June last year due to the spread of the delta variant. On July 28, a maximum of 16 thousand 230 people were diagnosed with corona in one day. After Delta, a new type of corona hits Omicron. On April 20, the health department reported the death due to corona. Recently the fourth wave of Corona has started. Corona cases and deaths are increasing in the country as the days go by.

Amidst such fears, several people have died in the last few days due to corona virus infection across the country. With this, the total death stood at 29 thousand 188 people. The number of affected patients has reached 19 lakh 86 thousand 490 people. This information has been informed in the regular press release on Corona issue sent by the Directorate of Health last Thursday.

Everyone has seen the picture of non-observance of hygiene rules around Eid. If this continues, the infection can increase at a massive rate. He said, dengue fever is very deadly. This fever causes rashes on the body, severe headache.

If you have fever for more than four to five days, you should get tested for corona and dengue at the same time. At the same time, everyone must wear a mask. Hygiene rules must be followed.

Now that it is dengue, corona and seasonal fever season, many people are suffering from fever. Many are already getting better. However, those who have fever for more than four to five days must consult a doctor. And hygiene rules should be followed including wearing a mask. If you wear a mask, you will be safe as well as your family. There is no need to wear a mask.

On the other hand, there was no harm in wearing a mask even in transport during the Eid trip. People are returning to Dhaka, fever, cold, cough from house to house - if you don't follow the hygiene rules, there will be nothing to do if the corona virus returns to its previous state.
