The theft of rickshaws and autorickshaws has been increasing for several days in Goalando of Rajbari. This has increased anxiety among poor drivers.

On Thursday (September 19) night in Daulatdia area of the upazila, the local crowd arrested one of the gang of thieves named Bilayat Fakir.

On Friday morning, after searching his house in Barkat Sardar neighborhood adjacent to Daulatdia Union Parishad, various items of auto rickshaw were found.

On receiving the information, Goalando Ghat Police and Daulatdia Union Parishad Chairman Ah Rahman Mondal went to the spot and found various parts of auto, van, rickshaw.

Locals said that a gang organized with Belayt Fakir and his son-in-law Alam Fakir and their accomplice Tara Fakir stole autos, vans, rickshaws from different parts of the upazila and opened and sold them at their homes late at night. They never allow the people around to enter their house. Surrounding the house with tin. They have been doing this for a long time. Today, they were caught red-handed with the help of local residents.

Siddique Sardar, a resident of Daulatdia Hossain Mandal neighborhood, said, an auto-rickshaw was stolen from my house yesterday. That car was stolen by his son-in-law with this vilayet. I want a proper trial for this.

Md. Shahidul Islam, another rickshaw driver, said that on the 6th of this month, my only earning rickshaw was lost. I can see the goods of that rickshaw today in the house of Belayat. I want my rickshaw back and justice for these thieves.

Meanwhile, the accused Belayet was arrested and taken to the police station and after the policemen including the OC of the police station and the chairman of the union left the spot, the local angry crowd attacked the house. They looted house fans, chickens, goats, furniture and other belongings along with stolen parts of the rickshaw-van in the house.

Chairman of Daulatdia Union Parishad Ah Rahman Mandal said, after hearing the news, I went to that house and saw many goods of rickshaws, autorickshaws and vans. Such incidents are very sad. They need to be properly judged.

Goalando Ghat police station officer-in-charge (OC) Mohammad Rakibul Islam said that a person named Belayet has been arrested in connection with the rickshaw-van theft. In preliminary questioning, he said that his son-in-law and the son-in-law of a man named Abul Hossain are involved in this gang. Legal action will be taken if the victim complains about the theft to the police station. The thief is in our custody.
